This explains what personal information I collect through this website and my work, what I do with it, and how you can see or change it. Plain English, no fine print.

Salt Design Co is a one-person web design business on the Central Coast, NSW, run by me, Jamie. When this policy says “I” or “me”, that’s who it means. If you have a question about your information, you’ll be talking to me directly.

I follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as the standard for how I handle your information.
When you send an order or enquiry through this website: your name, phone number, business name, email address (optional), the best time to call you, and the details of the order you built.
When you ask for a free website check: your contact details and your current website address.
When you become a client: the information needed to do the work and bill you, like your business details, ABN, billing contact, the content and photos for your site, and logins to things like your domain, hosting or Google Business Profile. I only ask for logins when I need them, and I’ll suggest giving me my own user access rather than sharing your password where the platform allows it.
Automatically, when you visit the site: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. This is recorded by my web host for security and to keep the site running.
You don’t have to give me your details, and you can call me without identifying yourself if you just have a question. I will need your name and a way to contact you to quote or do any work.
I won’t use your details for anything unrelated to these without asking you first. I don’t send marketing emails unless you’ve said yes, and every one will have an easy way to opt out.
I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. I only share it with services I need to run the business, and only as much as they need:

Some of the services above, such as Google and Meta, store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. I choose well-known providers with strong security, but I can’t control where they keep their data. By using this website and my services, you understand your information may be stored overseas by these providers.
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site only uses the cookies it needs to work properly and load quickly. I don’t currently use advertising or tracking cookies on this site.
If I add tools like Google Analytics or a Google reviews display in future, I’ll update this policy to say so. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Your information is kept in password-protected accounts with two-factor sign-in where it’s available. Logins you give me for your accounts are stored in a password manager, never in emails or documents, and I’ll hand them back when we stop working together.
If you send an enquiry and we don’t end up working together, I’ll delete your details within two years. For clients, I keep invoices and business records for at least five years because the tax office requires it. After that, I delete or de-identify them.
If there’s ever a data breach likely to cause you serious harm, I’ll tell you as soon as I can and let you know what to do.
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Just email jamie@saltdesignco.com.au. I’ll reply within 30 days and there’s no charge. The only thing I can’t delete early is anything the law requires me to keep, like invoices.
I don’t use computer programs or AI to make decisions about you that affect you, like whether to take on your job or what to charge you. A person (me) makes those calls.
When I build or look after your website, your site may collect information from your own customers, for example through your contact form. That information belongs to you, and I only access it to do the work you’ve asked for. Your business is responsible for having its own privacy policy. If you don’t have one, I can help you set one up as part of your build.
